Painting and final details continue.
Window seat was finished today. Even without a cushion and pillows, it’s pretty darn comfortable. It’s also a great spot to spy on the neighbors.
I missed all the fun (i.e. crazy amount of activity) today, but Steve and Rob were really nice to send me photos throughout.
This was the largest sink we could get, and it will accommodate the grates from the stove.
This might be my favorite new addition.. no more setting off the smoke alarms.
Oh yeah, the painters worked around the countertop install – ceilings and trim are looking good!
Quite the busy day – at one point we had the carpenter, the tile guy, two painters, and the pantry designer all packed into the kitchen. Didn’t feel so large at that point.
I have to say again, we have the best carpenter possible. So much care is going into the finer details.
Painters worked on the primer for the ceiling and trim.
Temps reached about 45 degrees – sunbathing weather!
I have no idea….
Steve installed hinges to match all the new hardware in the room.
Baseboard added to the pantry. The floor was so uneven in here that the quarter round had to be added to fill the gaps.
The Baby Windsor trim looks teeny on the big window, but it should look great once it’s painted.
Cut out speaker holes –
for Steve’s new stereo. Amplifier arrived today.
A paper maché sculpture from our budding artist. Did you know there are 17 different penguin species in the world?
Another fun evening of discovering newly added details…
New basement door with a reversed swing. It will be more functional when I stop reaching for the wrong side.
Baseboard added to the cabinets.
Window labels (almost) removed.
New appliances arrived.
We decided to get some outside help to smooth the last of the swirled ceiling,
and finally finished the upstairs nosing. The old carpet is, unfortunately, outside the scope of the current project. Had to draw the line somewhere!
Fun day today. More cabinets, and some play time.
While the corner cupboard, refrigerator cabinets, and window seat were being worked on, I snuck out for more paint samples.
Lots of good choices, but still haven’t made a final decision.
This may be more usable storage than the entire old kitchen.
Carpenter left a little early to go fix a frozen pipe at another project, but that gave me about an hour of good light with no one around.
Brought up some of the backsplash for a little color help, and the new lights.
Large fixture is for over the sink.
Smaller pendant light (one of three) for the island.
I ruled out one choice. Only six left.
