Week 4 begins. Beginning to get tired of pizza.
Framed an opening for the subwoofer enclosure
Plumber returned today. Installed PEX for our kitchen plumbing. Shouldn’t have any issues distinguishing hot and cold pipes anymore.
Water line for the refrigerator
Island wall was unburied and we discovered new electric
Beam covered in plywood, apparently to get ready for the drywall.
Plumbing work started Friday,
and we tackled the low voltage wiring (CAT6 and 12/2 speaker wire) on Saturday.
Looks like a professional job
Ready for the new ceiling speakers
Still more electrical work…
Only four bulbs, and lots of light!
Our new electric panel
Yeah, I know. Electricians don’t spell very well.
Best part of today… my new tile arrived!
Recycled glass tile, with some very subtle color variations.
Electrical work was continued today.
Temporary bulbs were put into the recessed cans, so we had some light in the new space.
Electric for the counter appliances
Under cabinet lighting
Finishing touches done on my kitchen window.
Electric rough-in started today. Lots of recessed lighting, and placing of boxes for the ceiling fixtures.
A neat, clean job. Electrician is very particular about how wires are run.
Recessed lighting in the living/seating area, to be accentuated with a some well placed floor lamps.
Everything is meticulously labeled.
Two recessed cans over my window seat. This will be my favorite spot to curl up.
Outside, window trim and siding was fixed. Yes, we will have a two-tone house for a bit, but the drafts are gone!
Timing is everything. Today was sunny, windless, and unseasonably warm at a balmy 41° F. Perfect day for new windows.
Out with the old,
In with the the new.
My favorite part is the new window over the soon-to-be kitchen sink. I now have a much expanded view into the backyard.
I will no longer have to crawl on top of the counter to see what’s happening back there.
Ample light in the new space.
Busy day today…
The new windows arrived.
Front of the island was built and is in place.
Pocket door was framed and track set.
Framing for new kitchen window completed.
Ordered the pendant lights and new ceiling fixtures. Mock up of the pendant lights over the island.
The new space was accepted and approved of.
They‘re here, they‘re here!!!
Finally got our sign today. The ground was frozen so hard they had bent the iron spike that was supposed to hold the thing in place.
Framing for the pantry.
Old kitchen window had to come out for the pantry framing. If you look closely, you can see the backyard.
Rob was nice enough to fill the holes with some insulation. Temps are supposed to drop to 8° F tonight.
Beam is up and the space is amazing!
Panorama from the pantry
Our new 18 foot, 489 pound steel beam arrived today.
Two extra walls were built to hold up the top floor so they can remove the load bearing wall and replace it with the beam.
Apparently some minor destruction took place while trying to position the beam. Lost a stair railing outside and a bit of drywall inside.
Seth was the first to notice the new peep hole.
A sea of 2x4s. Have to take the long way around to get downstairs.
